Secretly, everyone deep down inside their hearts want to be first at something in their life. They can have the number one baseball or football team or it could be their GPA or the level at their job. No one ever talks about being number two as a positive position in life. 
The world says "You can be number one go for it!!" But God says, "If you allow Me to be number one in your life on a daily basis, when you face troubles and trials I will be your hope and walk you through it."
