Jeremiah 31:21
“Set up road signs; put up guidepost. Take note of the highway, the road that you take.”
When you are driving down the street and see a yellow or orange sign do you recall what that street sign represents? As you drive closer to the yellow sign you will recognize that it is a Warning Sign. The bright red signs are commanding you to STOP or DO NOT ENTER. You may realize that the sign in the shape of a Shield that is red, white and blue, represents Route Markers for each state’s highway system across the country. There is a plan and purpose for every sign along the roadway.
We have all kinds of road signs to keep us safe. All of the signs on the road help each of us be successful in getting to our destination as safely as possible.
The Bible is our GPS and the verses are our “road signs” created by God.
Scripture reveals the heart of God. The Holy Scriptures were written for our protection, guidance and intimate relationship with God our heavenly Father.
Let’s read and study this Road sign today from the Book of Proverbs.
Proverbs 22:3
“The prudent man sees danger coming and takes refuge, the simple keep going and suffer for it.”
Our verse today mentions a prudent man. The dictionary defines prudent as: wise, discreet, preparing for the future. The second person described in this verse is the simple man. Webster’s dictionary defines simple as: an ignorant, foolish or gullible person.
Ouch! Those are pretty harsh words. Just a reminder that Proverbs 22:3 was not written by man but by God Himself. You can also find the exact verse again at Proverbs 27:12. Whenever God repeats a word or phrase two or more times we should recognize that this verse is very important to Him. In other words, PAY ATTENTION!
So which one are we? Are we wise or foolish? Are we taking refuge in God or are we continuing to go on the path without God and going to suffer for it on the road to destruction?
Here is the good news for today!! Today is a new day full of God’s mercy. Today we can choose to be wise and not look back or go back.
Lamentations 3:22
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Praise the Lord! His mercies are new every morning.
God is a loving God and He gives everyone the choice which road they will take. He wants you to choose to walk with Him but He will not make you choose His ways.
Robert Frost wrote:
“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”
I encourage you today to choose the road with Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and run to Jesus. Stay on His path for your life and it will make all the difference.
