Luke 8:39
“Return home and to your family and tell how much God has done for you.”
When you read “Welcome to Homecoming” in the news what is your first thought? Do you remember the annual alumni banquet; the Concession stand food delicious smells and tastes during the Football game or perhaps the Parade with the Marching band and outrageous floats? How many countless hours did tired and worn our students spend making a float for their class or club every year for four years? Some people reminisce over their yearbook highlights of the homecoming court with each attendant wearing her chrysanthemums and her escort all dressed up and ready to hit the dance right after the game. Year after year the Homecoming committee would try to create a bigger sensational event than the year before and no matter how successful they were the students usually admit their wonderful experience to their friends.
The Scripture we are reading and reflecting on this week is in the New Testament, in the book of Luke. If you read the entire passage, and I hope you will, you realize that Jesus has just healed this demon-possessed man and he is sitting at the feet of Jesus. When we are healed or praying for a healing we need to be as courageous and thankful as this man and stay close to our healer, Jesus Christ and his church and the body of believers.
Jesus gives instructions to the healed man after he asks to go along with him and the disciples.
The instructions were specific, the man was to go home to his family and tell them how much God has done for him.
This week we will focus on living a life as a believer of Jesus Christ, as we go home and share our testimony with others.
Daily Application:
Day 1: Take a prayer walk in and around your home and pray for God’s healing touch on your entire family. Pray for each person living in your home by name and lift up their needs to the Lord.
Day 2: Today your prayer is to ask Jesus to help you share your testimony of what God has done for you to your family.
Day 3: Throughout your day talk to God and tell Him how grateful you are for what He has done in your life.
Day 4: At your family meal today ask your family how you can pray for them individually.
Day 5: Today tell one or more extended family members how much God has done for you.
