1 Peter 1:13
“Get your minds ready for good use. Keep awake. Set your hope now and forever on the loving-favor to be given you when Jesus Christ comes again.”
The first line of this verse hits the subject right on target. Are we getting our minds ready? Are you preparing for battle soldier? If yes, what are you getting ready for and how?
How do we get our minds ready for good use? Matthew 6:33 “Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven.” We need to be encouraged and reminded to read our Bible with passion and seeking the voice of God. Then, as we read the Bible and learn to discern the voice of God we will have understanding and can be prepared and ready.
Secondly, the verse mentions to keep awake. In order to be awake you need to have proper rest and sleep. The area of rest and sleep is a big problem for our world today. So many people can’t sleep or can’t grasp the concept of resting and relaxing.
Our lack of sleep can sometimes come from holding onto our fears, bitterness, discontentment, anxiety, procrastination or disappointments.
Let’s look at God’s Word on these issues and learn how to replace our weaknesses:
Phil.4:11 “For I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.” Isaiah 41:10 “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not Anxiously look about you, for I am your God.” 1 Peter 5:7 “Casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.”
Here is another fantastic, encouraging Scripture to memorize:
Ephesians 3:20“Now to Him who is able to do abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.”
Today’s Thought:
Help me Lord, to get ready and prepare my mind for Your Glory.
