Let's begin today with prayer and reading 1 Samuel 6
As we read the actions of the Philistines in this chapter I
know the questions that must be popping in your head.
These Philistines’ were way out there in their
decision-making.
Who makes golden idols out of rats? Did all of this really
happen?
Time and time again I hear different questions about the
authenticity of the Bible and the authors who wrote it. Today we have a great
example of the Bible confirming its content precept upon precept.
Just a reminder:
2 Timothy 3:16
“All Scripture is
inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize
what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to
do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good
work.”
Just like the human beings in the Bible, we are free to make
choices. We can be obedient or we can rebel against God.
We will use 1 Samuel
6:6 for our take-away verse for our Life Application.
“Don’t be stubborn and
rebellious as Pharaoh and the Egyptians were. Bu the time God was finished with
them, they were eager to let Israel go.”
What does this Scripture say?
1. The Philistines had heard about the Israelites in Egypt
and how powerful God worked in their situation and protection.
2. This verse confirms all of the Scripture in Exodus about
the plagues and harden heart of the rebellious Pharaoh.
What does this Scripture mean?
1. The Philistines understood that they had a choice to
make.
2. They knew to fear the God of Israel.
How can we apply this to our lives?
1. What am I rebellious about in my own life?
2. Have I allowed a person or issue I am facing to harden my
heart towards God or others?
Do you see what the Philistines are confirming in this
statement? They are confirming that Moses lead the people out of Egypt and their bondage. You can reread the event in Exodus 8:15,31-32 and 12:31.
GOD IS GOOD (Ps 25:8; 34:8; 84:11;100:5) and still people
choose to rebel and sin against Him. If you are in a rebellious place with the
Lord and desire to change your choices, now is the perfect time to fall on your
knees and repent.
If you know someone who has fallen into rebellion against God,
today is the perfect time to intercede for them in prayer on your knees.
Let’s Pray:
Lord, help ________ to repent and turn from this rebellious
heart today. Holy Spirit, please move in a mighty way and change _______ to
follow You with a clean and forgiven heart. In the strong name of our Lord
Jesus we pray. Amen
