I Thessalonians 5:21
"...Hold on to the good."
On October 1, 2012 my
Daddy left us here on this earth to be with Jesus in Heaven. He and my Mother
and two brothers are finally together in Heaven with their Lord rejoicing and
singing praises together as a family.
This journey started on
September 12, 2012 when I received a call and needed to rush to my hometown
to be with my Dad.
Even though he struggled
with pain almost the entire time, my father tried to keep a light little saying
for the medical staff and a good heart through it all. Everyone who helped him
in the hospital enjoyed his attitude and kindness. My two sisters and I were
with him for the majority of the entire time side-by-side and loving on him
through each moment.
I have pondered how I
would write and share this experience on the blog and after much prayer I have
decided to post this article. I’ve prayed and ask the Lord that the post would
be an encouragement to each one of you and at the same time bring much glory to
God.
Like all families we
have had our good times and our bad ones but God truly has been so good to us.
We could complain (and we do at times unfortunately) but we recognize that we really
have nothing to complain about. Philippians 2:14
God has been so good to
us. In so many ways, He’s been so good to us.
Because, my two sisters
and I are saved by the blood of Jesus Christ and have the assurance of
salvation for eternity in Heaven, we know we will be with our Parents and
brothers one day. Philippians 3:20
Knowing we will spend
eternity in heaven gives us peace.
Of course, the pain of
the earthly separation from our loved ones is real and exists but we are not
empty inside and without hope.
I choose to go on with
life with joy and loving others with strong encouragement and hope of a future
in Jesus Christ. As I live out this choice on a daily basis, I not only am
being obedient to the Lord and giving Him glory, but I am also honoring my
parents as well. Exodus 20:12
My parents would have
wanted me to strive to make a difference for God and be joyful and encouraging
for their grandchildren and great grandchildren. So I choose life and joy today
and each day to come. Joshua 24:15
Choosing life, joy and a
godly perspective will not always be easy. Actually over the holidays and
different seasons of life, it will be very hard, but God will walk right beside
me. Psalm 23:4
When I feel I just can’t
go on or take another step, God will pick me up and carry me to the next place.
Deuteronomy 33:27
As God carries me the
Holy Spirit will fill me up and refresh me again. Acts 3:20
I have experienced this rescue from God over
and over again. I am a testimony of the faithfulness of God. God will keep His
promises. God will never fail you or me.
If you are struggling
with anything right now in your life I want to encourage you.
God sees you where you
are. Genesis 16:13-14
He hears your hearts
cry. Psalm 55:17
He will supply your
every need and never leave you. Genesis 22:14
If you do not know the
Lord Jesus Christ in a personal way I encourage you to not wait another minute
or doubt His existence. Psalm 14:1
God is real and God
wants to have a personal relationship with you right now.
Ask Jesus Christ into
your life and heart and tell Him you need Him to be your Lord and Savior of
your life. Tell Him everything, don’t hold back and you can receive total
forgiveness and a new life in Christ. Romans 10:9-13
Know, believe, and
receive Jesus and know real peace in your heart.
When you know Jesus as
your personal Savior and spend time with Him in His Word, you will have genuine
peace in your life. 2 Thessalonians 3:16
I am praying for each
person that reads this post to receive Jesus Christ and the peace He has to
offer.
If you are a blood
bought saint of the Lord Jesus Christ and have the assurance of salvation I am
praying for you to be encouraged to walk in pure joy like Paul wrote in
Philippians to the Glory of God.
