THE GOD OF HOPE
Romans 15:13
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
Words are empty but are hearts are full of hope and comfort from God.
Psalm 119:76
"May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant."
2 Corinthians 1:3-6
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows."
2 Corinthians 4:8
"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."
When families are hurting and suffering, we hurt with them.
1 Corinthians 12:26
"If one part suffers, every part suffers with it."
Matthew 5:4
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."
Romans 12:15
"Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn."
Killing innocent people is evil.
Truth: God is good. The devil is evil.
Romans 12:9
"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good."
Romans 16:19b
"...but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil."
1 Thessalonians 5:21-22
"Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil."
Isaiah 5:20
"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness..."
John 8:44-47
Jesus said to them..."You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."
The God of Hope
Psalm 62:5-8
"Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge."
Proverbs 23:18
"There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off."
Dear Lord,
Thank you for your son, Jesus Christ, coming to the earth as a baby not to condemn the world but to save the world. You have made it very clear in the Bible that you have a special loving heart towards children and we are grateful for your love. Teach us how to bend down on our knees in prayer. May we learn from the crisis' in our home, community, country and the world to spend more time with you in prayer and reading Your Holy Word. Help us to memorize Scripture and have your Word hidden deep within our hearts for the times of trials. Give us wisdom and discernment to share with our family and friends about our faith in You. Use us for Your Kingdom and Your Glory.
In Your Holy and precious name we pray,
Amen
