1 Timothy 4:12
“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
The Book of First Timothy focuses on leadership. Paul is
writing to his young apprentice, Timothy with excellent advice, encouragement,
training and instructions that we can apply to our lives today.
My ministry Women Face to Face focuses on Mentoring the next
generation of believers. Paul and Timothy are a perfect example of how this
type of relationship works according to Scripture. Paul poured his life and invested his time in Timothy
because he felt called to reach out to him. Paul saw God’s potential, purpose
and patience in this young new believer and made himself available to God to be
used to minister to Timothy.
How about you? Do you have a mentor?
If not, are you praying for God to provide one for you?
If not, are you praying for God to provide one for you?
Are you an older godly person who knows Jesus Christ as
their personal Savior and knows you should be pouring yourself into the next
generation of believers?
Are you willing to step out in faith and ask God to guide you in this area of your life?
Are you willing to step out in faith and ask God to guide you in this area of your life?
Let’s dig into the book of first Timothy this week and
answer some questions that apply to our daily lives as a believer in Jesus
Christ. All of us are to be good examples to others and the world. Regardless of your age you are called to be a leader whether it is in the workplace, in school or in the home. Every believer is called to lead and be a good witness no matter where God plants us in this day and age.
Today: Read through the book of First Timothy.
Keep the following Chapter Sub-titles in mind as you are
reading:
1: What is Leadership?
2: Every leader needs prayer.
3: Qualities and Qualifications of a Leader
4: Are you Trustworthy?
5: Leadership begins at home.
6: Always check your motives.
“Faith never knows where it is being led, but it loves and knows the One who is leading.”
Oswald Chambers

Day 1: Reread 1 Timothy 1 and 2
Chap. 1: verses 1-11: Paul is giving us a warning about
False Teachers
verses 12-20: Paul is humble and encourages Timothy to fight the good
fight
Chap.2: verse 8 encourages men to lift up holy hands in
prayer
Verse 11 encourages women to learn in quietness and full submission
(The question for both men and women: How are you doing in this area?)
Day 2: Reread 1 Timothy 3
Don’t miss verse 14: how you ought to conduct yourself in
the house of God.
Day 3: Reread 1 Timothy 4
VERSE 1: continue to read the Word of God and pray to the
Lord Jesus you will be protecting yourself from falling into the deception like
mentioned in this first verse.
DO NOT ABANDON THE FAITH!
God chooses leaders based on their availability not their
talents and on their obedience to him. Leadership is not easy but nevertheless,
they are required to confront those who fall away from God and keep themselves
accountable and disciplined.
Day 4: Reread 1 Timothy 5
Leadership begins at home. Last weeks devotional on 2
Thessalonians 3 we discussed idleness and we see this subject covered again in
1 Timothy 5:8. When God repeats Himself it is time to underline it and pay
strict instructions to the Word.
Day 5: Reread 1 Timothy 6
Verse 3: Do you have the right or wrong motives?
Verse 6: But godliness with contentment is great gain.
Verse 10: Money itself is not evil but the love of money is!
What is #1 in your life God or money?
Day 6: Reread 1 Timothy 6:12
Fight the good fight of faith and take hold of the eternal
life to which you were called and confessed in front of witnesses. Do you have
godly friends or mentors who can help keep you accountable to grow in your faith
in Jesus?
Do you have a “Paul” in your life?
Is there a “Timothy” in your life?
Ask God to open your heart, soul, mind and eyes to His will for
your life in this area and believe Him for an answer.
Grace be with you!
Be encouraged as you seek the Lord in your leadership!
Be encouraged as you seek the Lord in your leadership!
