Genesis 16:13
So she called the name of the Lord Who spoke to her, You are a God of seeing, for she said, Have I [not] even here [in the wilderness] looked upon Him Who sees me [and lived]? Or have I here also seen [the future purposes or designs of] Him Who sees me?
Have you ever been to the point of thinking to yourself "I've tried and tried to ....................., and I just can't ever reach my goal. I've been praying about this FOREVER."
I wonder if God is as tired of hearing my same ol' prayer as I am tired of still praying it?
Does that sound familiar to you?
Last week, I was talking to God about this when an analogy came to mind that I want to share with you.
Pretend you are watching a Professional football game and the Quarterback is working very hard with his team to win. Nothing is working.
First, the coach on the sidelines gives him instructions and new plays to get the ball down the field. Out onto the field He goes and things are going well, but still NO GOAL.
Second, he runs off the field to the bench and studies the print out copies of the last few plays. The photographer in the press box is taking a snapshot of every move they make. These pictures have been sent down from the press box to the Quarterback to help him get a visual overlook of each play.
That approach is helpful but still, NO GOAL.
Thirdly, the frustrated Quarterback runs off the field and grabs the phone. This phone is a direct connect to the Offensive Coordinator in the press box who has the best perspective. This coach can see the entire game all at once and his perspective is invaluable. He is able to help the Quarterback understand the mistakes he is making and learn what plays are working and why. The Offensive Coordinators' position has the best and most helpful perspective.
God is our press box coach. He has the best perspective. We can't see the whole plan for our lives, we can only understand what is happening around us today.
God sees everything. God has a purpose and plan. God has many names and one of them is El Roi the God who sees. (Gen. 16:13) We may not know what will happen in the future BUT GOD DOES!!
Like the coach in the press box, God has the best heavenly perspective.
The challenge for us is to seek to have a God Perspective on life. When we do that, we will have a different approach to our problems and to the problems of others.
I've decided that I won't know until I try!
I'm trying to learn to look at life like God would with a God perspective. Instead of thinking all of the ME questions, I'm asking myself:
"What would God say about my negative thinking?"
"How would God react to ....................?"
"Lord, this really hurt and I am upset, I need YOUR perspective, teach me YOUR ways."
I want to invite you to join me today. Let's try to have a Godly Perspective on life.
If you have any questions about how to improve your personal prayer life with Jesus I'd love to hear from you. The Bible gives me instructions and examples of the personal wise God that all of us seek and serve. Seek Him today!!
