Weekly Devo: God’s Hall of Fame

Hebrews 11:6
“Without faith it is impossible to please God.”

Do you recognize any of these famous names from well-known Hall of Fame organizations?

Football Hall of Fame: Joe Gibbs, Mike Singletary, Reggie White, Deion Sanders? Baseball Hall of Fame: Hank Aaron, Cal Ripken, Roberto Alomar, Yogi Berra, Lou Gehrig Country Music Hall of Fame: Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, and Dolly Parton NASCAR Hall of Fame: Dale Earnhardt, Richard Perry, and Darrell Waltrip

The above list is just a small portion of the many different categories and names of famous people. But, I have a question for you. Do you know the Bible has its own Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11 in the New Testament? Hebrews 11 mentions the names of people with incredible faith: Noah, Abraham, Moses, Gideon, Samson, David, Daniel, Rehab and more.

Every person listed in Hebrews 11 had Christian hope based on God’s unchanging Word. Reading, believing and waiting with faith on what God says in the Bible will give you all the hope you need. Faith is your hope put into action.

God makes it clear that these men and women in Hebrews 11 had their eyes focused on the promises of God.

What do you focus on each day? Is your optimistic assurance holding on to the promises in God’s Bible? Do you know what God has promised?

Since the beginning of time, every statement God has written in the Bible has occurred exactly as it was prophecied. God has a PERFECT RECORD. Every promise has been fulfilled to this date. You can believe and trust in God’s promises. How are you doing in the “Faith in God” department of your life?

Daily Application:
Day 1: Today write out Heb. 11:6 on a 3x5 card or piece of paper and carry it with you all day. Memorize this verse until you can teach or recite it to one other person. Say it out loud in the car, while you are in the shower or anywhere you go today.
Day 2: Noah: Read Heb.11: 7 and dig into this verse. Noah lived his life “IN HOLY FEAR.” Take the time today to talk to God about your life and ask God to help you change and be stronger in Him from this day forward. Today would be a great day to reread Gen. 6: 9 - 9: 17 and get reacquainted with Noah’s life story.
Day 3: Abraham: Read Heb.11: 8 and dig into this verse. Abraham “OBEYED AND WENT.” Take the time today and talk to God about your life story and how you can follow God in a new and fresh way.
Day 4: Moses: Today read Heb. 11:25 Moses made God choices. Ask God to help you seek His will and make godly choices for life.
Day 5: Look Ahead: In verse 26 Moses makes the decision to keep looking forward with God and not dwell on the past. Today ask God to help you keep your eyes on the future with Him as your focus. Pray and talk with God.
Day 6: PERSEVERE: In verse 27 we are encouraged to keep our eyes on the God who is alive and active in our lives even though He is invisible. We must continue to persevere!!! Pray today for perseverance.
Day 7: Today write out Heb. 12:2a and keep it in your pocket. Hold on to the encouragement of fixing your eyes on Jesus.

Hebrews 12:2
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith.”
