1 Cor. 10:31
“…Whatever you do, do it all to the glory of the Lord.”
So many people try to live two very separate lives. They act one way at work or in public and they act a different way when they are home. As Christians we are called to live the same way 24/7 for the glory of the Lord. Living a consistent life for Christ everywhere you go is less stressful and more rewarding.
Life is difficult. No wonder we are overwhelmed when we add the stress of pretending to be one person at one location and then change our personality or conduct at home. Maintaining this double standard makes life complicated. The stress to maintain this kind of life can affect us mentally and physically and your Doctor knows all about that! We have placed so much pressure on ourselves and don’t know when or how it happened. This unnecessary stress affects those around us as well.
We read in Colossians 3:17 “Whatever you do, do it with all your heart unto the Lord and not unto man.” and the same command is given in 1 Peter 4:11.
The challenge for today is to pray for God to help us change. Change is never easy or quick but who wants to be stuck in a rut for the rest of their lives? Hopefully your answer is, “NOT ME!” In Matthew 6:7-8 Jesus is teaching us to Ask, Seek and Knock and the door will open to your prayer request. Notice that all three of those words are verbs and require action. Not only do we need to pray and ask God to help us change, we actually need to make an effort and start the process ourselves with His help. Here is an example of what the prayer could sound like:
Dear Lord, I need your help. I can’t live this life on my own. Forgive me for taking control of my life and ignoring Your ways. I’m asking You today to take control and help me do EVERYTHING to Your glory, no matter what. I’m seeking Your wisdom. Help me to read and follow Your Word more intentionally. Lord, here I stand at Your door and I am knocking. Please Lord, guide my life day and night. Change me to be the godly person you created me to be in EVERYTHING I do. Amen.
Remember to A.S.K. (Ask, Seek and Knock) and Do Everything for God’s glory.
Here is a great song by Steven Curtiss Chapman titled DO EVERYTHING!
