Psalm 20:1
"May the Lord answer you when you are in distress."
Many people ask me how to study the Bible with excitement and passion.
The questions are always: what makes the Bible come alive for you?
Why aren't you bored? How do you understand what it is saying?
Today I thought I'd get you started!
I was taught by my Mentors to read a Psalm and or a Proverb everyday. match The easiest way to stay on track is to follow the date on the calendar and read that one chapter.
Today is the 20th and like you to join me and read Psalm 20.
Let's read the chapter asking the following questions:
1. What verses really speak to me in my situation today? (write them down)
2. How can I apply this chapter or verses to my life today? (in 1 sentence)
Ok. Now grab your Bible and read along with me.
Here we go. LET'S GO DIGGING into to God's Word.
Read Psalm 20
Isaiah 55:11
"My Word will not return empty."
This is a solid promise from God that is true and trustworthy.
Now let's answer the questions above in #1 and #2.
Number 1. Here are a few verses that really hit me right where I am standing at this moment in my life 2012.
Verse 1: may the Lord answer me when I am in distress and may the name of
the Lord PROTECT me.
Verse 4: May God give me the desires of my heart and make ALL my plans succeed.
Verse 5: I will shout for JOY when you God, are victorious.
Verse 7: Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but I trust in the name of the Lord our God.
Verse 8:...we rise up and stand firm
Verse 9: Oh Lord, answer us when we call, please!
Number 2. This part demands me to apply what I've learned:
Verse 1: When I am distressed I need to talk to God and He will answer me.
And just saying the name of God in a holy manner, will Protect me.
Verse 4: When I first clean out all of my personal needs and junk in my heart
then all that can be left is God's desires in my heart. That is a healthy
heart, the one that has died to it's own selfishness and looks for God's
will. Once God's Will is my hearts desire then, all the plans will succeed.
Verse 7-8: I think it is interesting how the Psalmist sees victory and they are
not in the war yet. There is nothing wrong with chariots and horses ( (tanks and missiles) but to only rely on them without God is foolish.
Verse 9: I read that the people are continuing to pray and call out to God. I
have learned a pure joy to pray for others in battles of life and watch
as God answers our prayers. Keep Praying Prayer Warrior.
That's it!
All done.
How did you do?
What do you think?
No worries, if this was a challenge for the first time, tomorrow is another day.
Today's Thought:
I'm going to read a Psalm or Proverb everyday and watch God's Word work in my life. Thank you God for your protection and your Bible.
