God Is Still Working

John 5:17

"But Jesus answered them, My Father has worked [even] until now, [He has never ceased working; He is still working] and I, too, must be at [divine] work."

Have you ever heard the news report that sounded so terrible you started to ask yourself,
"Is God still working?"

Do you ever wonder sometimes,
"Has God forgotten us?"

These are very normal questions. Back as far as the Old Testament people have been asking these questions and searching for answers.

Here are just a few men of the Bible who ask those very same questions:
King David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Israelites and so many more.

Let's look into the life of one person in the Old Testament who never gave up on God even though to others it looked like God had given up on him.
There are many people in the Bible I could choose from but today we will dig into the life of Joseph.

Joseph's Story can be read in Genesis 30-50
Here is a quick overview of the events in Joseph's life:

  • His brothers hated him
  • His brothers beat him and sold him into slavery
  • he was a slave for the Pharaoh's court in Egypt
  • he has to learn their language and customs
  • he was falsely accused and thrown into prison
  • while in prison, he helped one prisoner go free by interpreting a dream and then was promised to be remembered and freed. Once again he was forgotten and left for 2 MORE years waiting on God in prison
  • he was separated from his family for more than 15 years
Now that is a tough list of things to deal with and yet, Scripture tells us that Joseph believed God would provide and protect him, NO MATTER WHAT!

Do you remember this incredible story? Now would be a fantastic time to grab your Bible and reread the wonderful life story of how God worked in Joseph's life.

Here is the Good News: the same Great and Mighty God that worked in Joseph's life is alive and working in our lives today as well.

Whether you are facing Big or little problems, trials or disappointments-
Be encouraged!
God is working even now.
Though you can't see how sometimes, He's still working!!!!

We read in Genesis 50: 19-21

Joseph has been promoted to second commander of Egypt and has finally been reunited with his brothers and all of them are saved from death during a terrible famine. God was working on His divine plan for their lives and for His glory)

"But Joseph replied, “Don’t be afraid of me. Am I God, that I can punish you? You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. No, don’t be afraid. I will continue to take care of you and your children.” So he reassured them by speaking kindly to them."

Today's Thought:
God is still working!

Leave your comments of encouragement and how God is working in your life!
