God Reveals

Daniel 2: 20-23

“Praise the name of God forever and ever, for he has all wisdom and power. He controls the course of world events he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars. He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light.”

Do you ever struggle with wanting to be "just like everyone else"?
Is it possible to prevent sin from blinding you in your choices?

1 Samuel 8:1-22
Here we see Israel is asking God for a King.
In this chapter the people are asking for the right to be "the same as all the other nations."
Just like us today, they didn't want to be set apart and different. They thought they wanted what everyone else possessed.
Samuel warns the people not to rely on a military leader for strength but to rely on God alone for their strength against their enemies.
No matter how many warnings God gave to them through Samuel, the people would not listen. As a result, we read the Lord's answer in verse 22, "Listen to them and give them a king."
God has handed them over to their wants.
 Psalm 81:12
“So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices.”

Have you ever prayed and asked God for something knowing it wasn't what God wanted for you, but you asked anyway?
This reminds me of a country song by Garth Brooks Thank God for "Unanswered Prayers"!

So what can we learn from this chapter?
Due to the great love and mercy of our God, we have the freedom to choose our path for life.
The question is which path will we choose?

Here is the good news!
Through Scripture and prayer God reveals His will for our lives and gives His followers warning for every choice that we make.
Now is the time to read the Word of God and seek His Will for your life!

Here are a few encouraging verses to guide you and pray over your life for direction and God's will in your life.

Colossians 1:26
“This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God’s people.”

1 Corinthians 2:10
“But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.”

Romans 16: 25-26
“All of our praise rises to the One who is strong enough to make you strong, exactly as preached in Jesus Christ, precisely as revealed in the mystery kept secret for so long but now an open book through the prophetic Scriptures. All the nations of the world can now know the truth and be brought into obedient belief, carrying out the orders of God, who got all this started, down to the very last letter.”

Praise the Lord for He loves us and reveals His Will to us through His Word!
