God To The Rescue

1 Samuel 26:25b
"May the Lord rescue me from all my troubles."

Please Read: 1 Samuel 24
David Spares Saul's Life
Verse 4: David's men give him advice and he follows through without taking the time to pray or think his actions through
Verse 5: David's conscience begins to bother him and he restrains himself and his men from killing Saul
APPLICATION:
Have you ever received bad advice and reacted too quickly without seeking God?
I think it is safe to say that everyone has done this at one time or another.
Here are a few verses on Seeking God:
Proverbs 3:6-8
Zephaniah 2:3
Hebrews 11:6

In verses 9-15 David communicates to Saul and commits to handing the situation over to God's control.
Do you have a conflict that needs resolved? Can you give it over to the Lord? Read the words of David who has made the choice to let God judge the conflict and control the punishment and consequences.
APPLICATION:
BE ENCOURAGED~ you too can live out this verse and have peace!
1 Samuel 24:15 "May the Lord therefore judge which of us is right and punish the guilty one. He is my advocate, and he will rescue me from your power!"

SPECIAL NOTE:
1 Samuel 24:21-22
Saul asks David to swear to not kill his family or his line of descendants and David promises this with an oath. We will read one of my favorite stories in 2 Samuel 9 of Saul's grandson's rescue and protection by David.
QUESTION:
Would you be interested in continuing a study next month in 2 Samuel?

1 Samuel 25 Abigail
Abigail means "of good standing, and of a beautiful countenance"
Because of Abigail's boldness and courage, she approaches David and apologizes for the words and actions of Nabal. She petitions David for his grace and mercy to not kill Nabal and the family (v.22). In confronting the future king of Israel she is showing her complete dependence on God to go ahead of her and soften his heart. Abigail is interceding for Nabal and eventually was blessed for her intercession as you read in verses 32-38 and 39-42.
APPLICATION:
Verse 18: Abigail wasted no time. Verse 23: Abigail quickly...
When God shows you to intercede for someone do you go quickly and confidently?
Do you intercede in prayer for those you love? When you are needed to actively intercede are you willing to step up?
Seek the Lord and He will guide and rescue you.
Abigail is a wonderful reminder and example for us today. Begin today interceding for others in prayer and move quickly to your knees.

1 Samuel 26
David Spares Saul's Life Again
Let's begin today in reviewing the words of Saul in 1 Samuel 24:16-21
Saul says in verse 20:
Now reread 1 Samuel 26: 2, 18
What happened?
He professed to acknowledge God's hand in David's life but he did not possess a heart for God.
Do you know anyone like this?
There is no change in Saul's heart. He is only using empty words.
In verse 21 Saul confesses to sinning and doing wrong but once again they are empty words. We will see in the following chapters he still has not changed his heart.

When we accept Jesus Christ into our hearts and lives, there will be a heart change. God will rescue you from the pit of hell and your salvation in Jesus will be your eternal encouragement for heaven while you live on the earth.
We will no longer act as we have in the past. The world should see a change in our lifestyle and our hearts. We will still make mistakes and daily sin but we will repent immediately and not continue to repeat things over and over again.
APPLICATION:
Now that I am a Christian, does my heart and life look different? Do others see the difference?
Am I reading my Bible, praying and interceding for others and living a life where I share my faith?
Have I truly and intentionally prayed and asked Jesus into my heart and life?
BE ENCOURAGED!
Begin today, serving the Lord with all of your heart and ask God to change you from the inside out. Seek the Lord with all of your heart and you will be blessed beyond measure! Right now is the time to ask Jesus into your heart and life and be your Rescuer, Your Lord and Savior.

Let's pray:
Lord, thank you for Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. I know I am a sinner and I need a Savior. Lord Jesus, come into my heart and change me forever. I do not want to live my life without You. Only You, O God, are my advocate and can rescue me, no one or nothing else but You! Help me Lord, to be like Abigail, bold and courageous, with a willing heart to intercede for others. Draw me closer to You Lord, to have a deep desire in my heart to know you more. Amen!
