Psalm 42:11
“Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my
hope in God! I will praise him again-my Savior and my God!”
Read 1 Samuel 27
David living with the
enemy
David is discouraged, despondent and feels like he will be
running the rest of his life.
We read what he was thinking and fearing in Psalm 13:1-2. David
has been running as a fugitive for approximately seven years. In his
discouragement David chooses to run to the enemy.
He is not the only biblical leader that became discouraged
and thought or did things they shouldn’t have. Take a moment to pause and read
about the disappointments and discouraging times of Moses in Numbers 11:15 and
Elijah in 1 Kings 19.
Have you been hard on yourself (or someone else) when they
are struggling with discouragement and disappointment?
Only during adversity does your faith grow.
God did not use anyone in the Bible until they went through
adversity.
Mark 9:23 “All things are possible for those who believe.”
APPLICATION:
Even in my discouragement God is with me and will guide and
comfort me. I do not need to run to the enemy for refuge. I need to run to the Lord! If I am patient and actively
hold on to my faith, in God’s perfect time I will be rescued and safe.
