Reading 1 Samuel 10
2 Corinthians 3:12
“Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.”
The focus of 1 Samuel has now moved from Samuel to Saul. God
tells Samuel to anoint Saul as the new King. In the process of being anointed
and also seeing prophecy fulfilled just as Samuel claims, Saul has the
confirmation of God’s calling on his life. The message is loud and clear.
Did Saul believe the calling on his life?
Verse sixteen tells us that Saul did not tell his uncle anything
about Samuel or the kingdom. Did
Saul doubt God’s call or was he too fearful to tell others?
In verses 21-23 we read that despite the strong confirmation
given to Saul from God, he still lacked courage or belief in the calling on his
life.
When he is to be presented to the public as the king, they
can’t find him. He is finally found hiding among the baggage and the people
must bring him out to be introduced as the new King.
APPLICATION:
How are you and I living our lives for the Lord?
Do you or someone you know lack courage when it comes to
sharing your faith with others?
Are you or someone you know hiding behind the baggage of
life?
We can find encouragement in the Word of God to not be
afraid and tell others about our faith in Jesus Christ.
Joshua 1:9
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid do not be
discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
As we spend time reading God’s Word, praying and applying
Scripture to our lives we will have the confidence to share our faith with
others. Our confidence in Jesus Christ as our personal Savior is all the
confidence we need to share the good news with others. Now is the time to step out in faith and witness boldly for Christ.
Let's make a commitment this week to tell someone about the love and salvation of Jesus Christ.
