IMMANUEL

Isaiah 7:13-14

“Then Isaiah said, “Hear now, you house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of human beings? Will you try the patience of my God also? Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”

Immanuel is one of the most tender and comforting titles and names of the Lord Jesus. This name literally means “God with us.”

The name of Immanuel is also used again in the New Testament.
“All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: ”The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).  Matthew 1:22-23

Over and over again God reminds us in Scripture that He will be with us. He also makes it very clear that He will never forsake us and we are never alone.
He told Moses “I will be with you.” In Exodus 3:11-12
He tells Joshua numerous times “I will be with you wherever you go.” In Joshua 1:5,9
We read in Genesis 28:15 “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go.”
Jesus will show Himself to those who love him in John 14:15-21

Do not be deceived. God is with us!  You are not alone.
On that one quiet moment, when Mary and Joseph accepted their part they would play in God’s plan and follow God’s will instead of their own, Jesus “Immanuel” was born in Bethlehem and we now can have salvation of sins through this child Jesus.

One of the messages written in Scripture to help us through each circumstance or the painful times in our lives is Isaiah 43:2-3:
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”

This Christmas season let’s try to be grateful and loving for the baby Jesus “Immanuel” God is with us!! And most of all, we need to trust and believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is our "Immanuel" or "God is with us." God is a promise keeping God.
