Psalm 62:5
My soul, wait only upon God and silently submit to Him; for my hope and expectation are from Him.
Lately, God and I have been discussing my need to control things.
I read that a control freak never enjoys life. Woe! That is a wake up call for me. The one thing I treasure is joy and enjoying life so, God gave me a couple visuals that have been very helpful. I thought I’d share them with you as well.
The first visual is riding a tandem bike. Of course, if you are a leader you love sitting in the front but God shared with me that He wanted that seat. Am I willing to sit in the second seat and allow God to take control? This is the classroom I’ve been in lately with God. He is teaching me on a daily basis and I’m trying to learn and move on to the next lesson.
Then, it occurred to me that at times, I am not moving and I ask God why? In God’s goodness He showed me another visual.
Picture getting into your car on the passenger side and clicking on the seat belt, ready to go wherever God desires.
Now that is submission right?
Now I’ve given over the control to God, right?
Then, why am I still sitting in the garage and not moving?
It occurred to me that many times I think I’ve given things over to God but I’m still not moving.
While sitting in the garage I reached into my pocket and realized that I had kept the keys to the car. No wonder I’m not moving. I told God to take control but I secretly thought I’d keep the keys. How ridiculous of me. I was so proud, I’d moved over to the passenger seat and even put on my seat belt but, in all honesty, I just couldn’t let go of everything so I still was holding on to the keys of the car. So, there I sat in the car with God, in the garage. It is amazing to me how patient God is with me and will wait for me to give Him everything in my life.
I’m learning slowly day by day that it is time for me to hand it all over to God.
Do you need to hand God your car, the driver’s seat and the keys?
Be encouraged. Today is a new day and God can handle being in control of your life.
Here is a great little note to read to start your mornings:
Good Morning,
This is God.
I will be handling all of your problems today and will not need your help.
Have a great day!
Eternal Love,
Your Heavenly Father
Join me in giving God complete control today and everyday!
