Weekly Devo: No Room for Fear

1 John 4:18  “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear.”

Very few people can say that they just love to clean and get rid of clutter. After all, we Americans just love our stuff. Only in America will you find Storage Units for sale or PODS.  Everyone hates to admit it but they have to confess that it feels good to finally have the cleaning project done.

Think of a visual picture of God’s love and the fullness of his peace as a room in your house. God’s love in the Bible is described over times as being perfect, full and complete. Therefore, we will picture God’s room of love completely full to the max. There is absolutely not one inch left for anything else. No room for any fear, anxiety, worry, doubt, negative words of discouragement or anything else. God’s love is so powerful it fills the entire room and will not allow any other thing to occupy it.

So, why do we keep holding on to the things that we think we need or want for the circumstances we are facing? Why do we try with persistence to push and drive our fears and anxieties into the FULL room of God’s perfect love?

Sometimes we lack the faith that God is able to handle the circumstance or that His perfect love will cast out all of our fears. Another reason we may hold on to our fears is habit. We have spent our entire lifetime doing life in fear-mode and the What-If’s of life.

If we neglect to read and study God’s Word on a daily basis we will not know the character of God and His promises. That is the only way to walk in faith and not in fear.

Daily Application:
Day 1: If we are walking in fear and worry we are saying “God can’t”
Walk today telling God “I know You can do all things God, nothing is too big
             For You.”
Day 2: If we are walking in anxiety we are not walking in faith. Today claim and
repeat Matthew 6:34, “So don’t be anxious about tomorrow. God will take
care of your tomorrow too. Live one day at a time.”
Day 3: Whatever you fear is, give it to God today minute to minute
Day 4: Thank God all day for being in control of your problems.
Day 5: Give tomorrow to God and live your life for Christ today.
Day 6: Repeat out loud: Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who
             gives me strength.
Day 7: Pray for God to help you to release your worry and the “what if’s” of life.
