Acts 3:19
“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord”
Autumn is my favorite time of the season. I love the Autumn smell in the air, the cool breezes, the incredible colors of the autumn leaves and the beautiful earth tones God paints on the flowers and plants. There is nothing like the colorful Mums and deep rich orange pumpkins to decorate our homes inside and out for the fall season.
While preparing for this months Harvest-Time Series of devotionals God began to share with me Scriptures, Stories and Songs to place on the website. God has outdone Himself and revealed His hand in this season of my life. I am so excited to share with you what He placed on my heart.
Do you like to spend time in the park or take long walks in the community where you live? I know many Americans feel so busy and rushed that they think they don’t have time for a picnic in the park or a casual walk through the neighborhood.
As I walk outside and feel the breeze on my face and the sun shining through the trees I treasure this time to talk with God. After reading this short story I hope you will protect and reserve a daily time to spend with God. Scripture states that we should “seek the Lord while He may be found.” Isaiah 55:6
We are always refreshed in the presence of the Lord.
A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of root beer and started his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman.
She was sitting in the park just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her a Twinkie. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him.
Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Again, she smiled at him. The boy was delighted.
They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word. As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old woman and gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever.
When the boy opened the door to his house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, “What did you do today that made you so happy?” He replied, “I had lunch with God.” But before his mother could respond, he added, “You know what? She’s got the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen!”
Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face, and he asked, “Mother, what did you do today that made you so happy?” She replied, “I ate Twinkies in the park with God.” However, before her son responded, she added, “You know, He’s much younger than I expected.” (Author unknown)
There is power in a touch, a smile or a hug.
Daily Application:
Everyday look for God to reveal Himself as you live out your Christian walk.
A personal note from Jayme;
The only thing missing on this website is feedback from you, the audience. I would really like to hear from you and where you are in your walk with God.
It would be so helpful to hear from you and know how you and God are doing? Your comments will also be a blessing and encouragement to others. Would you take a moment and send a comment on the devotional or the blog posts sometime this month. Thank you for your consideration. I will be praying for you.
