Feb. Daily Devotional Part 2: Guard your heart!

Proverbs 4:23
“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”

When you go to bed for the night, do you leave the front door unlocked and sleep unprotected for the entire night?
Of course not, that would be crazy.
With the way things are in today’s world no one would ever be so irresponsible and leave their home completely open and unprotected all night.
That would be way to dangerous.

Unaware, this is exactly what we do with our hearts and the hearts of our loved ones.
If we aren’t careful, we can live on a daily basis with our hearts dangerously unprotected .

This week let’s take the opportunity to get a new start and guard our heart as a way to celebrate Valentines Day and the entire Week.
Celebrate a new guarded heart for the Lord.

The heart is very important to God and He mentions it in the Bible hundreds of times. In both the Old and New Testament, God warns each one of us to guard our hearts. As we seek a personal relationship with Jesus Christ He will give us peace and understanding as we guard our hearts.

“Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”

Here are the lyrics to the chorus of the Christian song
Trust His Heart:

God is too wise to be mistaken. God is too good to be unkind
So when you don’t understand, when you don’t see his plan
When you can’t trace His hand, Trust God’s heart.

Trust God’s promises in the Bible and your life will be changed forever.
Hide God's Words in your heart and guard it tenderly and as you do
you will be protected as you follow His commands.

How do you guard my heart?

Let’s start by using the acronym for G.U.A.R.D. as a starting point for this week:

Day 1: G: Give God Time and Meditate on the Scripture that you read. Reading one chapter a day from Psalms and Proverbs.
Day 2: U: Unplug the world that distracts you and Listen to the heart and character of Jesus Christ
Day 3: A: Ask God into your heart
Day 4: R: Repent of the sin in your life
Day 5: D: Daily Dedicate your heart and life to the Lord as Savior
Day 6 & 7: Take time to Pray, talk and Listen to God
