February Part 3 A Healthy Heart

Ephesians 3:17

“Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.”

Everyone needs to take care of his or her heart. Doctors will tell us over and over again how important it is for us to have a healthy diet, exercise and live right to have a healthy heart.

Did you know that God created your heart and made it to desire to be filled only by Him?
If our hearts do not have Jesus Christ in them then our hearts are empty and void of what it was created for.
There cannot be any lasting joy or peace without Jesus Christ in our hearts.

We are encouraged in Isaiah 55: 6
“Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.”

As we seek the Lord on a daily basis, God shines His light into our hearts and we receive knowledge, discernment, peace and direction.

2 Cor. 4:6
“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

So the question is, “How do I have a heart totally dedicated to the Savior and Lord Jesus Christ?”
It doesn’t matter whether you have been walking with the Lord as your personal Savior for years, maybe even decades or you have just ask Jesus into your heart as recent as today, we can go on this journey together.

#1. Start reading your Bible seeking to know God deeper with a passion and hunger instead of a duty or regular activity or chore. Grab a cup of coffee and go to a special place where you can spend time alone with God.
A good place to start in your Bible reading is the book of John and move to the back of the Bible and read 1 John, 2 John and 3 John. Grab a notebook and start journaling what you learn.

#2. Spend time in prayer. A.C.T.S.  Ask God, Confess to God, Thanksgiving to God and Supplication with prayer requests for others and yourself.

#3 Spend time in prayer listening to God and He will speak.
Ps. 40:1 “I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry.”

God warns us about the heart and our attitudes in scripture.
Jeremiah 17:9
“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?”
Prov. 24:12
“Don’t excuse yourself by saying, “Look, we didn’t know.”  For God understands all hearts, and he sees you. He who guards your soul knows you knew.  He will repay all people as their actions deserve.”

The good news for believers and followers of Jesus Christ is that you are forgiven. Now ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you through the scriptures and mold you into the person God created you to be.

Ask God to renew your heart with a deep desire to know Him more and as you read the Bible ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the heart and character of God to you every moment of everyday and your life will be changed forever. This is God’s purpose for every human being alive.
